FALLON, Nev. -
Truckee (Calif.) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as it threw a touchdown with 9:00 to go, bringing the team to victory over
Churchill County (Fallon, Nev.) 30-20.
After trailing 9-6 at the half, the Greenwave went ahead on a touchdown catch by
Skye Barton with under a minute left in the third.
By the end of the third, Truckee found itself trailing by 4 points as Churchill County captured the lead thanks to two scores in the quarter. CC scored on a rushing touchdown and a touchdown catch by Barton in the quarter.
The Fallon school's Barton played well. The senior wide receiver caught one touchdown. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
A 20-14 Truckee victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The defeat comes as a step back for Churchill County, which notched a 12-0 victory over Fernley in its previous outing.
Churchill County (7-1) goes up against Lowry in a IA Northern game matchup next week, while Truckee (7-1) locks horns with South Tahoe also in a IA Northern game.
