Severn School won the last time they faced St. John's Catholic Prep and things went their way on Friday too. The Admirals really took it to the Vikings for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-20 victory. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Admirals had established a 29-point advantage.

Severn School's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ty Bussard led the charge by throwing for 286 yards and six TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes. Those six passing touchdowns gave Bussard a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Schlein, who gained 105 total yards and three touchdowns.

Another reason for the win was Severn School's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece.

Severn School now has a winning record of 2-1. As for St. John's Catholic Prep, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Severn School is set to challenge their familiar foe John Carroll at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, St. John's Catholic Prep will square off against rival Our Lady of Mount Carmel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Vikings their first taste of in-conference action this season.
