Baseball Recap: Riverview Sarasota's Win Ends Seven-Game Losing Streak at Home

There's no place like home for Riverview Sarasota, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They skirted past the Inspiration Academy Lions 7-5. For the Rams, this counts as revenge for the 1-0 win the Lions walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2022.

Gaelen Simonson looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Andrew Rhymestine was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Hudson Peluso also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Riverview Sarasota was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Riverview Sarasota's victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-17. As for Inspiration Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverview Sarasota will head out to square off against Naples at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Inspiration Academy, they will square off against IMG Academy Gray at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games the Ascenders have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
