Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Bryan Desgrottes and Jerek Gabriel Lead Port St. Lucie to Victory

It was a proper cat-fight when Port St. Lucie duked it out withWestwood on Tuesday. The Port St. Lucie Jaguars came out on top against the Westwood Panthers by a score of 52-44. This was a revenge game for the Jaguars: when they faced off against the Panthers back in December of 2024, they had to take a 57-52 defeat.

Port St. Lucie was led to victory by Jerek Gabriel and Bryan Desgrottes. Gabriel dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards, while Desgrottes went 5 for 10 on his way to 18 points. The dominant performance gave Gabriel a new career-high in points.

Port St. Lucie's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-15. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for Westwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.

Port St. Lucie won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Tradition Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Tradition Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Port St. Lucie likes a good challenge. As for Westwood, they will challenge Treasure Coast at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
