Softball Recap: South Windsor Comes Up Short

South Windsor had lost nine straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-16 to make it ten. They took a 16-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Manchester Red Hawks. The game snapped a strange streak: the last six times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Gemma Duhamel was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Daphne Specht, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Manchester, the win snapped their losing streak at eight games and leaves them with a 6-9 record. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

On Manchester's side, McKenna Hills-Nevin '26 was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave Hills-Nevin '26 a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Fontaine '25, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

South Windsor didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-7 victory against East Catholic on the 20th. As for Manchester, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, an 11-6 defeat against Tolland on the 20th.
