Football Recap: New Fairfield's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

After flying high against Lewis Mills last Friday, New Fairfield came back down to earth. The Rebels lost to the Notre Dame Prep Lancers on the road by a 43-26 margin on Friday. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Rebels, who until this game were averaging 13.8 points allowed.

Michael Traynor threw for 300 yards and three TDs. Anthony Debartolomeo was his top target, picking up 86 receiving yards.

Notre Dame Prep was led to victory by LJ Richardson and Ja'Cari Harris. Richardson rushed for 141 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine carries, while Harris rushed for 135 yards and two scores while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Harris is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 106 every time he's taken the field this season. Nate Achelus did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 87 receiving yards.

The defeat snapped New Fairfield's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-2 record. As for Notre Dame Prep, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

New Fairfield and Notre Dame Prep will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Rebels see the field they'll take on Stratford at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. As for Notre Dame Prep, their break will end when they face Weston at 6:30 p.m. on the 17th.
