Having struggled with nine losses in a row, Hopkins County Central turned things around against Livingston Central on Tuesday. They blew past the Cardinals 18-4. The Storm's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Brody Smith was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Hopkins County Central got a massive performance out of Neilan Bruce, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Bruce has posted since back in March. Sawyer Allen was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Fort Campbell hit Heritage Christian Academy with a four-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors came up short against the Falcons, falling 12-4.
Caden Gresham made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Heritage Christian Academy: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Cadyn Travis, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-12. As for Heritage Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.
Hopkins County Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Heritage Christian Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 9-7. Will the Storm repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
