Basketball Recap: Russell Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Norah Mooney and Kelvie Reeves

Russell lost against Phillipsburg back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Russell Broncos fell 45-37 to the Phillipsburg Panthers.

Russell's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kelvie Reeves, who posted eight points, and Norah Mooney, who went 5 of 9 en route to 12 points. Reeves has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played.

Russell has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Phillipsburg, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Russell will head out to face off against Smith Center at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Russell is facing Smith Center at the right time seeing as Smith Center is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Phillipsburg, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Trego at 6:00 p.m.
