Baseball Game Preview: Iowa Park Hawks vs. Boyd Yellowjackets

The Iowa Park Hawks will head out to face off against the Boyd Yellowjackets at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The last three games Iowa Park has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Last Tuesday, Iowa Park sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Springtown. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Porcupines recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

CJ McNeill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, while Boyd put up some runs last Tuesday, the same can't be said for Whitesboro. The Yellowjackets were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Bearcats. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Boyd is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Iowa Park, their win bumped their record up to 14-7.

Iowa Park might still be hurting after the 9-2 defeat they got from Boyd in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
