Baseball Recap: Mercyhurst Prep Has No Trouble Against Grove City

Mercyhurst Prep lost to Grove City back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Lakers were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Eagles. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lakers.

Bryce Schueth looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Rocco Almonte, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Stoker, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Mercyhurst Prep's record now sits at 2-0. As for Grove City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Mercyhurst Prep has already played their next contest, a 7-0 victory against Fairview on the 4th. As for Grove City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 3-2 win against Oil City on the 1st.
