Softball Recap: Dowagiac Makes It Four in a Row at Home

On Friday Dowagiac's undefeated season almost came to an end. They had just enough and edged out the South Haven Rams 11-9. With that victory, the Chieftains brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Bree Campbell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Campbell was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Charleigh Reed, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Bree Behnke also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Dowagiac pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 7.0 runs this season. As for South Haven, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
