Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Zane Grant and Jonathan Guy Lead Gilbert to Victory + How To Watch

Gilbert was handed a 23-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They skirted past the Campo Verde Coyotes 49-46. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 27-14 win the Coyotes walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2024.

A big part of Gilbert's victory came down to the chemistry between Zane Grant and his top target Jonathan Guy. Grant threw for 317 yards and four TDs while Guy gained 172 total yards and four touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Guy a new career-high in receiving yards (123).

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Gilbert, racking up 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Guy, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Despite the loss, Campo Verde still got an impressive performance from Jonah Lubno, who rushed for 79 yards and three scores on only 11 carries, and also threw for 230 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75.9% of his passes. Wyatt Rauch was Lubno's top target, picking up 104 receiving yards, while also punching in one TD on the ground.

Gilbert's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Campo Verde, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-2.
