Baseball Recap: Zanesville Takes a Loss

If Zanesville was feeling good fresh off their 10-2 takedown of Licking Heights on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Blue Devils fell 5-1 to the Northridge Vikings on Wednesday. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Zanesville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mahki Murray, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base was Murray's first of the season.

Zanesville has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Northridge, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-9.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Zanesville will challenge rival Licking Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Northridge is set to take on their familiar foe Johnstown-Monroe at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
