Basketball Game Preview: Brookland-Cayce Bearcats vs. Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles

The Brookland-Cayce Bearcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Brookland-Cayce is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Carolina's top teams: Conway, who was ranked 20th at the time (Brookland-Cayce was ranked 24th). Everything went Brookland-Cayce's way against Conway on Friday as Brookland-Cayce made off with a 53-30 victory. The Bearcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Gray Collegiate Academy waltzed into their contest on Sunday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 59-42 win over the Gators.

Brookland-Cayce better keep an eye on Levi Ball. He was instrumental in Gray Collegiate Academy's win, going 5 for 6 on his way to 18 points and seven rebounds. Ball has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. Lamont (Lj) Britt was another key player, putting up 13 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Brookland-Cayce has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points per game. As for Gray Collegiate Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.

Brookland-Cayce took a serious blow against Gray Collegiate Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 84-41. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Brookland-Cayce was down 50-18.
