Basketball Recap: Pendleton Heights Comes Up Short

Pendleton Heights has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 62-52 to the Yorktown Tigers on Thursday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Arabians came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Tigers are ranked 87th).

Despite the loss, Pendleton Heights still got an impressive performance from Cooper Sims, who shot 52% from the field on his way to 30 points and six boards. Sims has been hot, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Clark Emly, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Yorktown to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jabin Barnes, who went 8-for-15 to rack up 21 points. Mason Trammell was another key player, shooting 45% from the field en route to 17 points.

Pendleton Heights' loss dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Yorktown, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-7.

Pendleton Heights didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-27 victory against Mississinewa on the 10th. As for Yorktown, they have also already played their next contest, a 64-50 win against Taylor on the 7th.
