Baseball Recap: McGuffey Comes Up Short

McGuffey came into this matchup off a tough ten-run loss on Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Charleroi Cougars by a score of 6-4 on Thursday. The Highlanders' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Noah Seibert made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

McGuffey's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Charleroi, the victory was their first on the road, bumping their record up to 5-3.

Looking ahead, McGuffey will square off against Brownsville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.57 runs per game on average), something the Highlanders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Charleroi, they will take on Jefferson-Morgan at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rockets will aim to continue their five-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
