Basketball Game Preview: Kearny Komets vs. Clairemont Chieftains

Kearny and Clairemont are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Kearny Komets will square off against the Clairemont Chieftains at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Kearny beat High Tech Mesa 46-41.

Meanwhile, Clairemont entered their tilt with La Jolla on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 62-49 win over the Vikings. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Chieftains' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 857th, while the Vikings are ranked 315th).

Kearny is also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Clairemont, the win got them back to even at 10-10.

Kearny suffered a grim 69-46 defeat to Clairemont in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Kearny avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
