Football Game Preview: Elysian Fields Yellowjackets vs. Joaquin Rams + How To Watch

The Elysian Fields Yellowjackets will challenge the Joaquin Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Elysian Fields is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They won a game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Garrison 55-54. The Yellowjackets' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Nunu Kennedy was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 208 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry, and also threw for 200 yards and a pair of TDs on only 17 passes. What's more, he racked up 25 receiving yards, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alex Simmons, who gained 108 total yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Elysian Fields was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 269 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Joaquin against Honey Grove on Friday as the team secured a 41-8 victory. Considering the Rams have won five contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Amarion Wilson and Jacob Gatlin. Wilson rushed for 106 yards and one score on only 12 carries while Gatlin rushed for 74 yards and one TD on only five carries. Gatlin also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, defending three passes and snagged an interception.

Elysian Fields' win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.5 points over those games. As for Joaquin, their record is now 8-4.

Elysian Fields strolled past Joaquin in their previous matchup back in September of 2021 by a score of 29-14. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Rams' Malik Stotts, who rushed for 158 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries.
