Basketball Recap: Bivindi Jean's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Coconut Creek over Piper + How To Watch

Coconut Creek extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-5. They received a blow as they fell 68-53 to the Piper Bengals. The Cougars were not able to make up for their defeat to the Bengals from their previous meeting back in December of 2024.

Coconut Creek's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bivindi Jean, who posted 23 points. Jean is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Jonathan Choute also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

As for Piper, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-3. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Leading Piper to victory were LaDanian Mckenzie and Isaiah Monestime. Mckenzie almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Monestime almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Monestime a new career-high in steals (three). Another player making a difference was Jakari Smith, who put up 12 points and five assists.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Coconut Creek will take on Dillard at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars will be up against the Panthers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 62 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Piper, they will challenge Pompano Beach at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
