Football Recap: Palo Verde Takes a Loss

Palo Verde started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Reno. They took a 25-19 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Huskies on Friday. The Panthers' loss continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row dating back to last season.

Jackson Mathews was nothing short of spectacular for Reno: he rushed for 216 yards and three scores while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and also caught one touchdown. Those 216 rushing yards gave Mathews a new career-high. Andre Daniels III also helped out as he racked up 103 rushing yards.

Palo Verde's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Palo Verde will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Green Valley at 6:00 p.m. on September 5. As for Reno, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Foothill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
