Softball Recap: Germantown Triumphs

Germantown got themselves on the board against Cairo-Durham on Friday, but Cairo-Durham never followed suit. They came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 4-0. That's two games straight that the Clippers have won by exactly four runs.

Not much got past Emma Schmidt, who gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Cairo-Durham off the board. Schmidt has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Adele Heuer and Hannah Ferrer did most of the damage at the plate: Heuer went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI, while Ferrer scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Mia Schmidt was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Germantown now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Cairo-Durham, they dropped their record down to 1-3 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Germantown will welcome Greenville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.25 runs per game on average), something the Clippers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cairo-Durham, they will challenge Hudson at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
