After both having extra time off, the Baldwin Indians and the Bartram Trail Bears will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Baldwin is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
Last Thursday, Baldwin got the win against First Coast by a conclusive 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Baldwin got a massive performance out of Makaila Fry, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Kendall North was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one triple.
Meanwhile, Bartram Trail fell victim to Santa Fe and their airtight pitching crew last Thursday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raiders. The game marked the first time this year in which the Bears were not able to get on the board.
Rommeney Patrey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Bartram Trail saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucie McDonald, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Even though they lost, Bartram Trail hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most two strikeouts in five consecutive contests.
Baldwin's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Bartram Trail, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
Baldwin took their win against Bartram Trail in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 14-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Baldwin since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
