Basketball Recap: Mahalia Thoms' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hunt over C.B. Aycock

Hunt lost against C.B. Aycock back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Hunt Warriors fell to the C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons 44-39. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mahalia Thoms, who posted nine points. Another player making a difference was Tanyha Anthony, who put up eight points.

C.B. Aycock got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Zakayla Sanders out in front who earned 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Smith, who had ten points.

Hunt's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for C.B. Aycock, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hunt will take on Rocky Mount at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rocky Mount has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 204 points over their last three games. As for C.B. Aycock, they will face off against Northern Nash at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
