Baseball Recap: Hamilton Victorious

It was a proper cat-fight when Hamilton took on San Jacinto Leadership Academy on Friday. The Bobcats came out on top against the Lions by a score of 9-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bobcats.

Adam Barreto made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Hamilton is 4-1 when Barreto posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Joey Alvarez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for Hamilton: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-5 otherwise. Shane Boyle also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Hamilton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory got Hamilton back to even at 6-6. As for San Jacinto Leadership Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hamilton will welcome United Christian Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for San Jacinto Leadership Academy, they will take on Santa Rosa Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
