Basketball Recap: Lakeside Comes Up Short

Lakeside was the 52-49 winner over Josey when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Lakeside Panthers had to suffer through a 67-27 loss at the hands of the Josey Eagles. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-13.

Despite the loss, Lakeside still got an impressive performance from Kobi Barnes, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 19 rebounds. That's the most rebounds Barnes has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyrhstan Sullivan, who posted five points in addition to seven assists and five boards.

Even though they lost, Lakeside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

It was another big night for Kerri Fluellen, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards for Josey. Fluellen has been hot for a while, having also posted three or more steals the last 37 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Keasia Henderson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Lakeside and nudges their season record down to 3-6. As for Josey, their win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0.

Lakeside didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 68-26 victory against Hephzibah on the 20th. As for Josey, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 76-68 defeat against St. Francis on the 21st.
