Basketball Recap: Austin Dorsey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Beaches Chapel over Harvest Community

Beaches Chapel and Harvest Community squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Beaches Chapel had to settle for second. They took a 61-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Harvest Community Warriors. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 40-35.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Austin Dorsey, who posted 21 points. The dominant performance gave Dorsey a new career-high in points. Noah Salazar was another key player, putting up 16 points and seven rebounds.

Harvest Community's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Adam Lawson led the charge by going 10-for-17 to rack up 25 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lawson has scored at least a third of Harvest Community's points. Another player making a difference was Justin Parsons, who went 7-for-10 en route to 17 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.

Beaches Chapel's loss dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Harvest Community, their record is now 11-16.

Beaches Chapel does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Harvest Community, they have already played their next matchup, a 77-21 defeat against Impact Christian Academy on the 5th.
