Basketball Recap: Armwood's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Armwood put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 59-50 win over the Wharton Wildcats. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 153rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Armwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaliyah Bandy, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. Bandy is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Amaya Richardson, who posted 16 points, to go along with six rebounds and four steals.

Despite the loss, Wharton still got an impressive performance from Sydney Hurst, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Kaytee Tyler, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 16 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Armwood's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. As for Wharton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Armwood will welcome Middleton at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Middleton's defense has only allowed 27.5 points per game this season, so Armwood's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Wharton, they will host Strawberry Crest at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wharton is facing Strawberry Crest at the right time seeing as Strawberry Crest is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
