Preview: Northeast Vikings vs. Gibbs Gladiators

Northeast is 2-7 against Gibbs since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Northeast Vikings will head out on the road to take on the Gibbs Gladiators at 8:00 p.m. Northeast knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Gibbs likes a good challenge.

Northeast scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They skirted past Largo 75-72. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Northeast's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luis Ruiz, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Brown, who scored 17 points along with four steals.

Meanwhile, Gibbs entered their tilt with Tampa Catholic with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Gibbs walked away with an 80-70 win over Tampa Catholic on Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Northeast is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for Gibbs, their victory bumped their record up to 14-3.

Northeast came up short against Gibbs in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 64-55. Can Northeast avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
