Volleyball Game Preview: Temple Christian Tigers vs. CHESS Christian Royals

The Temple Christian Tigers will venture away from home to challenge the CHESS Christian Royals at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Temple Christian managed to slip by Christian Academy the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Tigers lost 3-0 to the Eagles on Tuesday.

While Temple Christian was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-23, 25-21.

Meanwhile, CHESS Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Spring Valley Academy.

CHESS Christian wouldn't go down easily and took Spring Valley Academy into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. The final score came out to 25-14, 27-29, 24-26, 25-15, 15-9.

Temple Christian will have to keep a close watch on Halle Carroll and Sierra Schappacher, a pair of players who had a big impact on CHESS Christian's prior game. Carroll had 20 digs and two aces, while Schappacher had 21 digs. Lydia Young also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Temple Christian's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for CHESS Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9.
