Baseball Recap: Elk Grove Triumphs

Elk Grove is still undefeated this season after their contest against Valley Christian on Thursday, but Valley Christian came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Thundering Herd came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the Warriors. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Thundering Herd have posted against the Warriors since March 9, 2016.

Ethan Bagwell looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jayden Hernandez, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Chase Groves also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Elk Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2025.
