Basketball Recap: Cape Fear Christian Academy's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak at Home

Cape Fear Christian Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a hard 53-37 fall against the South Garner Titans on Saturday. The Eagles were probably out for revenge after losing 60-55 to them when the teams met back in December of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Cape Fear Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Ellis, who went 5 of 9 en route to 10 points and seven rebounds. Ellis is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Caden Scarborough, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 14 points.

Cape Fear Christian Academy's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-5. As for South Garner, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.

It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Cape Fear Christian Academy Eagles take on the Lee Christian Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on January 7th. As for South Garner, they will venture away from home to take on Willow Spring at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Willow Spring's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine matchups.
