Softball Game Preview: Moorefield Yellow Jackets vs. Strasburg Rams

The Moorefield Yellow Jackets will venture away from home to square off against the Strasburg Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Moorefield will be strutting in after a victory while Strasburg will be coming in after a defeat.

Moorefield is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Spring Mills on Saturday. Moorefield came out on top against Spring Mills by a score of 13-9.

Meanwhile, Strasburg fell victim to James Wood and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Colonels.

Ava Mayhew spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 12 Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.

Moorefield's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Strasburg, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Moorefield might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Strasburg in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Moorefield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
