Basketball Recap: Jahannah Green's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pell City over Shades Valley

Pell City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 48-44 heartbreaker at the hands of the Shades Valley Mounties. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mounties earlier this season, when they won 50-46.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was JaHannah Green, who posted 11 points and three steals. Those 11 points gave Green a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamiriah Hill, who put up 11 points.

Even though they lost, Pell City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 0 offensive rebounds per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 11.

Pell City's defeat dropped their record down to 7-19. As for Shades Valley, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8.

Pell City will square off against Gadsden City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Shades Valley, they will take on Pleasant Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pleasant Grove will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Shades Valley surely won't give up without a fight.
