Football Recap: Rampart Rams vs. Durango Demons
Rampart had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 1-5 to make it four. They were dealt a 47-7 defeat at the hands of the Durango Demons. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Demons are ranked 26th).
Carter Deeds threw for 72 yards and one touchdown. Brandt Landrum was his top target, picking up 34 receiving yards and one TD. On the ground, Demarion Simpson rushed for 43 yards.
As for Durango, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. The result was nothing new for the Demons, who have now won three contests by 29 points or more so far this season.
Grady Feeney produced another solid effort rushing for 156 yards and three scores on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 148 yards and a pair of TDs on only 12 passes. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Gus Halls also helped out as he racked up 113 rushing yards.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Rampart will take on rival Vista Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on the 11th. Meanwhile, Durango is set to challenge their familiar foe Palmer Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on the 10th. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Demons 9, the Bears 8.6) so any points scored will be well earned.
