Football Recap: Downey Skates Past Western Christian with Ease

There's no place like home for Downey, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past the Western Christian Fighting Lancers, posting a 37-6 win.

Downey found their leader in sophomore Madeline Garcia, who threw for 200 yards and one TD, and also rushed for 47 yards and one touchdown. Another player making a difference was Melanie Sanchez, who picked up 46 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Downey's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Downey wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 18-2 loss against Bonita Vista on the 16th. As for Western Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 20-6 win against Warren on the 15th.
