Basketball Recap: Chippewa Hills Takes a Loss

Chippewa Hills lost to Newaygo last Monday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Warriors were outmatched by the Lions and fell 64-31. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-13.

Chippewa Hills' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Francesca Fall, who posted nine points in addition to eight boards and five blocks, and Kiara White, who scored five points along with six rebounds and three steals. Fall has been hot for a while, having posted two or more blocks the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Rileigh Abel, who put up six points.

Chippewa Hills' loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Newaygo, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.

Chippewa Hills and Newaygo could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. The Warriors will face off against Big Rapids at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (352 vs. 90). Meanwhile, Newaygo (ranked 243rd) will meet Shelby (ranked 102nd) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
