Baseball Recap: Leesville Road Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

Leesville Road barely beat Sanderson the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Pride were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Spartans on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Pride in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won nine in a row.

Alex Higdon tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Leesville Road got a massive performance out of Nolan Wyss, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Wyss has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Zack Nash, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Leesville Road kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sanderson only managed three hits.

Leesville Road's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Sanderson, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Leesville Road beat the Spartans by a score of 18-1 on Thursday.
