Softball Preview: Slidell Tigers vs. Chalmette Owls        
        
		
            The Slidell Tigers will take on the Chalmette Owls at 5:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Slidell has given up an average of 7.3 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Slidell fell victim to Doyle and their airtight pitching crew  on Monday. They lost  12-0 to Doyle. Slidell's defeat continues a  trend for the  team, making it three in a row.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Chalmette and Fontainebleau meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again  on Tuesday. Chalmette narrowly escaped with a  win as the  squad sidled past Fontainebleau  7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  victory the Owls have posted  since February 25th.
 Emma Borden made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she  struck out seven batters over  seven innings while giving up just one earned  (and four unearned) runs off   five  hits. Borden was also stellar in the batter's box,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 2-for-4. She is also on a roll when it comes to  RBI, as she's  now  brought in three or more in each of the last four games she's  played.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Ella Tabora, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was  Aubrie Watts, who  scored a  run while going 3-for-3.
 Chalmette  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 12  hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fontainebleau only managed seven  hits.
 Chalmette pushed their record up to 8-4 with the  win, which was their fourth straight  on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Slidell, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
 Slidell came out on top in a nail-biter against Chalmette in their previous meeting  back in March of 2024, sneaking past  5-4. Does  Slidell have another victory up their sleeve, or will Chalmette turn the tables on them?  We'll have the answer soon enough.
