Baseball Recap: McClave Takes a Loss

McClave had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 10-7 to make it five. They lost 11-2 to the Eads Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 on Friday.

McClave saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lawton Annen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

As for Eads, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 15-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.5 runs this season.

On Eads' side, Adyn Hough made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Hough has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Stockton Mitchek, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Case Nelson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McClave will welcome Stratton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Eads, they will take on Manzanola at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.77 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
