Baseball Recap: McClave Cardinals vs. Eads Eagles
McClave had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 10-7 to make it five. They lost 11-2 to the Eads Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 on Friday.
McClave saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lawton Annen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
As for Eads, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 15-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.5 runs this season.
On Eads' side, Adyn Hough made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Hough has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Stockton Mitchek, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
