Basketball Recap: Kirkwood Comes Up Short

After flying high against Springfield on Friday, Kirkwood came back down to earth. The Kirkwood Cobras took a 68-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Springfield Yellow Jackets. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Cobras came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 248th).

Kirkwood's defeat dropped their record down to 19-6. As for Springfield, their victory bumped their record up to 10-17.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kirkwood will venture away from home to take on West Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kirkwood knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully West Creek likes a good challenge. As for Springfield, they will take on Rossview at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
