Southwest Onslow gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Northside - Jacksonville Monarchs, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Stallions have posted against the Monarchs since October 20, 2015.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Southwest Onslow got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 23-25, 25-22, 13-25, 15-10.

Northside - Jacksonville's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alaana Mack, who had 11 digs and two aces.

Coincidentally, Southwest Onslow and Northside - Jacksonville will both be playing Jacksonville the next time they take the court. The Stallions will head out to face the Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Monarchs will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
