Softball Recap: Montrose Takes a Loss

Montrose had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 1-5 to make it four. They lost 10-1 to the Ovid-Elsie Marauders. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Rams couldn't push the score so high this time.

Montrose saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Sjoblom, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Emma Leitelt also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

As for Ovid-Elsie, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games.

On Ovid-Elsie's side, the team relied heavily on Brooklyn Thornton, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Thornton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isabella Phillips, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Montrose will look to defend their home field on Friday against Michigan Lutheran Seminary at 4:00 p.m. As for Ovid-Elsie, they will venture away from home to square off against Lakeville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
