Basketball Recap: Carterville Takes a Loss

Carterville lost against Harrisburg back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Carterville Lions fell 33-25 to the Harrisburg Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 416th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 140th).

Despite the loss, Carterville saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Maya Toliver went 5 for 9 en route to 10 points.

Carterville's defeat dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Harrisburg, they pushed their record up to 20-5 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Carterville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-47 loss against Chester on the 1st. As for Harrisburg, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 74-39 defeat against Mt. Vernon on the 1st.
