Baseball Recap: Roscommon Comes Up Short

After flying high against Heston Academy on Tuesday, Roscommon came back down to earth. The Bucks fell 5-1 to the Buckley Bears on Thursday. The Bucks were not able to make up for their loss to the Bears from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Mason Hodnett put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Hodnett was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last four times he's played.

Hodnett wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was James Phillips, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Phillips is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.

Roscommon's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Buckley, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

While Roscommon had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
