Basketball Recap: Nederland Takes a Loss

Nederland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Twin Peaks Classical Academy Timberwolves and fell 66-39. The Panthers were down 52-27 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

When it comes to explaining why Nederland lost, don't look at Indio Koonz. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Koonz a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Akerley, who posted eight points.

Jace Ross had an outrageously good game for Twin Peaks Classical Academy as he went 6 of 9 on his way to 17 points. Matthew Wurth was another key player, putting up eight points along with eight boards and four blocks.

Nederland's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Twin Peaks Classical Academy, their victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-4.

When Nederland and Twin Peaks Classical Academy next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Nederland will try to stop Golden View Classical Academy's five-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Twin Peaks Classical Academy will try to stop Two Roads Charter School's three-game winning streak when the meet at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
