Softball Recap: South Putnam Beats Owen Valley for Their Third Straight Victory

South Putnam entered their tilt with Owen Valley on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Patriots. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered an 8-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Taylor Boyce spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Elliana Cox, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Cox wasn't the only one making solid contact: South Putnam kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.

South Putnam's record is now 5-1. As for Owen Valley, they dropped their record down to 4-4 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.
