Basketball Game Preview: Minersville Battlin' Miners vs. Mount Carmel RED TORNADOES

The Minersville Battlin' Miners will venture away from home to challenge the Mount Carmel RED TORNADOES at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Minersville is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Panther Valley: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Minersville blew Panther Valley out of the water with a 54-24 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Battlin' Miners had established a 28 point advantage.

Dante Carr was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 9 on his way to 21 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Bowers, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 12 points and six rebounds.

Minersville was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Panther Valley only racked up two assists.

Meanwhile, Mount Carmel put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Dunmore by a score of 81-72. The RED TORNADOES's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Minersville's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Mount Carmel, their victory bumped their record up to 8-0.

Minersville didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Mount Carmel when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 59-53 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Minersville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
