Softball Game Preview: Sheridan Generals vs. Logan Chieftains

The Sheridan Generals will venture away from home to challenge the Logan Chieftains at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Sheridan easily dispatched West Muskingum on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Generals fell just short of Danville by a score of 6-4 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Generals have suffered since April 6th.

Lancaster hit Logan with a seven-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Chieftains lost 12-2 to the Golden Gales. The defeat continues a trend for the Chieftains in their meetings with the Golden Gales: they've now lost nine in a row.

Logan saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Savannah Rutter, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. Rutter is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

Sheridan's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Logan, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.

Everything went Sheridan's way against Logan in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Sheridan made off with a 14-4 win. Will the Generals repeat their success, or do the Chieftains have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
