Recap: Fort Collins Lambkins vs. Erie Tigers

The Fort Collins Lambkins suffered their closest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Erie by a score of 64-61. Fort Collins was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Erie apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.

Fort Collins' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayce King, who scored 26 points along with three steals. That was a full 42.6% of Fort Collins' points, marking the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Dmarco Sanchez-ferguson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven assists and six steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Erie to victory, but perhaps none more so than Callen Gebhardt, who scored 30 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gebhardt has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lucas Lee, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Fort Collins now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Erie, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Collins will take on Broomfield at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Broomfield presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Fort Collins in Colorado (Broomfield is ranked 22nd, while Fort Collins is ranked 137th). As for Erie, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Cheyenne Mountain at 12:00 p.m. on January 13th.
