Baseball Recap: Indy Genesis HomeSchool Takes a Loss

Indy Genesis HomeSchool extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 11-6-1 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-10 heartbreaker at the hands of the Herron Achaeans. Even if the Indy Genesis couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

As for Herron, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games.

For Herron's part, Abraham Cherry and Richard Morris made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Cherry pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Morris pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Cherry has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Cherry went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Morris went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Cherry has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Luke Cherry, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Elon Sharp, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Indy Genesis HomeSchool will venture away from home to square off against Bethesda Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Indy Genesis' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Herron, they will take on Indianapolis Scecina Memorial at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The last three games the Crusaders have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
